Workshop Get Their Names New Date Saturday Ocotber 25, 2014 9:30 am to 3:00 pm
(registration and breakfast begin at 9:00 am) Woodbury UMC, 577 Woodbury Rd, Woodbury, Long Island, NY
Led by Rev Bob Farr
This full day event is a follow up to Bob’s popular webinar based on his book Get Their Name- Grow Your Church by Building New Relationships. Join us as we learn to share your faith without anxiety! Most churches and Christians target the wrong people with “evangelism” efforts. The model we use no longer works, because it is too passive, too polite and focused in the wrong direction. This webinar will cover how to change the habits of leaders and entire congregations, so that the invitation to discipleship is natural, constant, systemic, genuine, and easy. Join us to see how your church can change, and equip your people to share their faith in a way that is effective, biblical and transformational.
Here’s what one participant wrote after the webinar: I was struck by a couple of things. One - Bob Farr's approach to teaching seems to be pretty much what he's trying to get us to understand - relationships lead to change. He speaks to us. His stories are our stories. His experiences, ours. So in the telling, he brings us on board fairly quickly. He gets to the point, has relevant examples, and is honest about the time it will take for change to happen. We need his down to earth approach - his honesty - his encouragement - and his refusal to give up on making disciples. This is truly discipleship training.
Bob Farr is the Director of the Center for Congregational Excellence at the Missouri Annual Conference. He was a student at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, where he majored in Organizational Communication and Fire Safety. He attended seminary at Perkins School of Theology, and he first served in the Missouri Conference at Randolph Memorial in Kansas City. He started a new church in Lee's Summit called Grace UMC, and his latest appointment was at Church of the Shepherd in St. Charles where he led the congregation through relocation and grew to 1200 in worship attendance on Sunday. He is experienced with developing the Pastor Leadership Development program, church consulting, relocations, mergers and new church starts. Bob is the architect of the HCI “Healthy Church Initiative” program currently being used in 12 conferences. He has authored “Renovate or Die – 10 Ways to Focus Your Church in Mission”, publish date May 2011 and “Get Their Name- Grow Your Church by Building New Relationships”, publish date April 2013.
